Cops Capture Campers!

fotdmike | March 10, 2008

Climate Change is an issue that’s affecting us all (whether we acknowledge it or not) and one about which we should all, rightly, be concerned.
Increasingly we are seeing the effects of climate change impacting peoples’ lives all over the world and, unless something dramatic is done, this situation will only get worse. Nor is this [...]

Climate Camp curiosities

fotdmike | August 28, 2007

Now this guy came came complete with a ponytail – and tried to keep well away from the main gate to the Campsite.
Couldn’t get very many pics of him, and what I could get aren’t very good as I was on full zoom and didn’t have a tripod with me – and my hands aren’t [...]

Climate Camp 2007

Reflections on the 2007 Climate Camp

Having returned from the Camp last Tuesday (21st August) I’m just about sufficiently refreshed now to reflect on the week.
Not that it was as tiring as last year’s Camp (and my own particular workload wasn’t quite as intensive this time) but I was still well occupied.
Despite my protestations virtually thoughout [...]

A victory for citizen journalism!

fotdmike | July 1, 2007

Cop a bit over-zealous in nabbing a 13-year-old for… skateboarding!
Fellow skateboarders (all youngsters, obviously) floating around with camera-equipped mobile phones and even one with a videocam.
Power-crazed cop captured on video.
Video posted to YouTube, and call goes out to community networking sites like MySpace and SiteSpaces.
Spreads like wildfire.
Cop’s superiors compelled to suspend cop whilst investigation gets [...]

Welcome to TawNews!

"TaW" = "Tilting at Windmills" so "TawNews" represents the newsy-type area of TaW. To explain...

Having become thoroughly disgusted by the bias, spin, and blatant non-reporting of certain types of events on the part of the mainstream media we find ourselves having much greater confidence in the independent, alternative, and "citizen journalist" news sources.
TawNews is our effort toward promoting those sources through links, dynamic feeds, and the occasional reproduction of selected content.
As our own contribution, in some small measure, we also periodically post reportage of our own.
That said, we freely admit to having our own bias... in a direction markedly different to that of the mainstream media!

[P.S. "We", in all instances, is "fotdmike" and a small select bunch of friends!]
